Leysin is situated at an altitude of 1'263 m, high on the south side of a mountain facing the wide Rhone Valley. This exceptional location allows it to receive optimum sunshine from early in the morning until late in the day with no natural barriers to bar the sun's ray. Moreover, it is shielded from the cold north winds by the mountain behind it. The humidity is low and the air is thin, allowing the sun to penetrate effectively. 

The imposing panorama is omnipresent in the steep valleys and the snow-covered peaks, is undeniably the best postcard of Leysin. Nicknamed "the Balcony of the Alps", from the revolving restaurant "The Kuklos" located at the summit of "the Berneuse" at 2'048, your eye will take in the Alps, from the Eiger to the Mont Blanc, sweeping over the Cervin and Dents du Midi on the way. You will discover a magnificent view over the Lake Geneva. The wealth of alpine flora and fauna is also a great asset for all the nature lovers.   

There is a multitude of sports and leisure activities for everybody, whether you want to throw yourself body and soul into skiing, snowboarding or cross-country skiing or to split your time between the swissiming pool, ice climbing, snowshoeing, ice skating rink and squash.

The ski season starts each year round about December 18 and concludes round about April 25. We have 15 ski lifts that spread over 60 km of alpine ski runs.

"The Berneuse" & "Mayen" present the most exciting possibilities to enjoy rides for beginners or experienced. The snow park with the super half-pipe will satisfy all the snowboarders who are searching for air sensations.

The Telecabin station of Télé-Leysin is at your dispoal to purchase your ski-pass for a half-day, a full day and more. Please note that the ski-pass is free for a child, less than 9 years old.

From 3 consecutive days of ski-pass, you will be able to practice ski over all the Vaudoises Alps (72 installations, 215 km of ski runs) including : Leysin, les Diablerets and the Glacier 3'000, Villars / Gryon, les Mosses / la Lécherette. For children (beginners) from 3 until 7 years old, The ESL (Events Sport & Leisure : Swiss ski school of Leysin) open the "snow garden", situated at the bottom of the village next to the ice skating-rink. Group lessons every morning, Sunday to Friday, first slides, games in the snow park, ability test on Thursday.

For those who sulk the ski, snowshoeing walks & other trips are organized every week by The Leysin Tourism office. During this season a lot of easy walks will enjoy our guests. For many years and as part of  Nescafé Champs Open, Leysin hosts the worldwide best snowboarders for this world cup. It takes place on "The Berneuse". For this reason, Leysin provides a "Superpipe", well-kept all winter season. The snowpark will delight all snowboarders.   

From the end of December to the end of March (in case of snowing up) next to the ice skating rink,  The Tobogganing Park is an amusement park for children & adults. 4 to 8 slippery chutes scooped out of compact snow and ice, with curves and bumps and banked walls that defy gravity. To slide down with snow tubes. A 360° turn, a Big Air for jump. 2 to 4 mini tracks for children under 6 years old. What' ever the season, Leysin can offer an ideal environment for training with its two equipped sport centres which are at your disposal for all sorts of modern sports. The first sport centre (in town) is also the front desk of the Tourism Office. You will find a covered and heated swimming-pool (opens 10 months during the year) with a pool of 25 meters and a paddling pool for children, 2 squash courts, a climbing wall, 3 indoor tennis courts, 3 outdoor tennis courts.

The second sport centre (at the bottom of the village) provides an ice-skating rink (opens 10 months during the year), 1 gymnasium, tables tennis, a synthetic football field, 2 beach-volley fields, 4 outdoor clay tennis courts.

What better place to unwind than Leysin with its incomparable view and the unspiled natural beauty of the Alps. Leysin offers you an exceptionnal panoramic view, 250km of walking trails (easy walks or steep trails) alongside mountain lakes, impressive cliffs and a superb protected natural reserve. For the most braves, Leysin offers difficult mountain trails and walls to climb like the "Via Ferratta at la Tour d'Aï". There are also a lot of mountain bike trails. Well equipped mountain bike trails with different difficulty levels.

A the end of August (round about August 20), the village celebrates during the weekend the "Fairy Night". It is an opportunity to see a procession, to listen music and drink a glass of wine of our region.   

Leysin has the privilege to host every year, over 800 students worldwide who are divided into four schools of international renown. "The Leysin American School", the "Leysin American College" (schiller international University), the "Kumon Leysin Academy" et "the Swiss Hotel Management School". All schools provide quality education and ideal environment for their students.   

Unlike most ski resorts in Europe, Leysin lives throughout the year. It is a large village which are more than 4'000 people (students included) and has many shops open all year (supermarkets, bakeries, butcher shop, bars, general medecine, pharmacy, real estate agencies, banks, insurances, sports shops, souvenir & gift shops, newspaper shop, jewelry shop, hairdressers, beauty care, clothing stores, flower shop, photo shop, laundries, construction companies, etc.) 

For " aprés-ski" or during any season, the restaurants listed above will be delighted to welcome you. The movie theatre "The Regency" is open 10 months a year.

You will also have a drink and spend a pleasant evening in a musical atmosphere in a bar with a DJ : the "Lynx", the "Saloon" or the "Top-Pub".

There are numerous cultural or entertaining activities awaiting you within a radius of 50 km. Wheter you like jazz, nautical attractions, painting or castles; the region of Leysin offers you this variety. 

25 minutes drive from Leysin : Aigle (the castle and the museum of wine). Yvorne (its wine cellars). Les Diablerets (The glacier 3'000).

40 minutes drive : Villeneuve, one of the starting points for CGN cruises on lake Geneva. Montreux, its beautiful promenade by the lake, the music with the Jazz festival (at the beginning of July), the Christmas market, le castle of Chillon.

On the Rhone valley : Lavey les Bains, its thermal pools. Bex, its salt mines. Le Bouveret, its entertainment parks for families ( "le Swiss Vapeur Parc" &  "l'Aquaparc"). The town of Martigny, the Gallo-Roman history, the art exhibitions at the fondation Pierre Gianadda. Gstaad, the resort Jet-Set with its elegant chalets, the Palace, the tennis Open tournament (end of july).

1 hour drive : The town of Lausanne, the city and its pedestrian streets, the museum of Fine Arts, the walk along the lake Geneva in Ouchy, the Olympic Museum. The zoo of Servion. The Cabaret Theatre of Barnabé. The town of Sion, its medieval old town. 

1 hour 15' : Crans-Montana, one of the biggest ski resort in Switzerland, the golf Open "Omega European Master" (beginning of September). Verbier, its ski runs, X-games competition in winter, "the afters" in winter, the classical music festival (end of july). Gruyères, the castle, its cheese factory. Broc, the "Cailler" chocolate factory.

1 hour 30' : Geneva, its shopping streets, its many museums, the old town, its famous fountain and its walks by the lake. Bern, administrative capital of Switzerland. This town is a wonderful city of Arts and craftsmen. Entire rows of houses merge into integrated whole, all connected by long covered promenades - the arcades.
